Community Compost from Compost Works

We were delighted to receive some locally-produced compost for our planters this summer. It was donated by Compost Works, a Liverpool-based social enterprise working to divert food waste from incineration and landfill. The Chief Executive and Founder is local resident Minna Alanko-Falola.

The compost comes from local residents’ food waste which is being composted in Greenbank Park. What better way for the community to support Smithdown in Bloom than by composting their food waste so that our plants and flowers can grow and thrive!

Compost Works regularly has compost available for free to community gardens, allotment holders and other growing projects. Email info [at] compostworks.co.uk for more information.
