Light Up Smithdown for Christmas is organised by Smithdown in Bloom. We’ll be planting flowers in our new planters on Smithdown Road, and encouraging the community to come along and also visit the local independent shops to buy at least one Christmas present/voucher from a local retailer. This is a volunteer-led event for the community by the community. It has been funded by money raised by this year’s Smithdown Litfest.
2pm Planting of winter flowers in Smithdown in Bloom planters. Junction of Smithdown Road/Ullet Road/Greenbank Drive. Look out for our volunteers and Father Christmas! Come and help or watch us plant.
3pm Light Up Smithdown for Christmas! Christmas lights in various shop windows. Christmas carols with local children, starting outside Dead Ink Bookshop and walking down Smithdown Road towards the railway bridge (Allerton Rd direction). Meet Father Christmas and pop into our local shops to buy at least one Christmas gift from an independent local business this Christmas season.
4pm Christmas Art Auction. Join us at Smithdown Social Arts Hub at 455 Smithdown Road for a special Christmas art auction. A unique chance to get some beautiful art by a local artist, for you or a loved one, and to support a local community organisation.
6pm Why not stay on Smithdown Road for a pre-Christmas drink or meal in one of our many independent bars, coffee shops, restaurants and takeaways?
